Khagendranath Mitra (2 January 1896-12 February 1978) was born in Calcutta. In school life, he came into touch with "Bagha Jatin" and participated in revolutionary politics. Later, Mitra also joined the "Non-Co-operation Movement" and became imprisoned (Wikipedia).
Among the Indian writers, he was the first whose books on children's literature were translated into different foreign languages. His notable works are Bagdi Dakat ( বাগদী ডাকাত ), Vombol Sardar ( ভোম্বল সর্দার ), Mintur Chobi ( মিন্টুর ছবি ), Kopaler Lekha ( কপালের লেখা ), and many more. Moreover, he achieved the Bhumaneswasi Medal (ভুবনেস্বসি পদক), Mouchak Sahitya Puroskar ( মৌচাক সাহিত্য পুরস্কার ), and Girish Silver Medal ( গিরিশ রৌপ্য পদক ) awards for his memorable contribution in Bengali literature.
