Samaresh Basu (সমরেশ বসু) (11th December 1924-12th March 1988) was a well known Bengali writer born on 11th December 1924 who spent his childhood in Vikrampur, Dhaka (Bangladesh). He died on 12th March 1988.
When he was only 21 he wrote his first novel Nayanpurer Mati  (নয়নপুরের মাটি),
bur it was never published as a book form but serialized later in Parichay(পরিচয়) . His wrote another novel Uttaranga  (উত্তরাঙ্গ) which was published in the year 1949-1950 as a book form. He achieved the Sahitya Academy award  in Bengali in the year 1980 for his novel Shamba (শাম্ব)


He wrote more than 200 short stories and 100 novels including those written under the aliases "Kalkut"(কালকূট) and "Bhramar"(ভ্রমর).
